| Nickel | Standard choice for most routine aqueous analyses. Lowest cost. |
| Aluminium | Lower-cost alternative that avoids a nickel contribution when nickel is an analyte. |
| Platinum | Best for aggressive acids and organic solvents. Longest life and lowest background. |
| Platinum with Ni or Cu base | Platinum where it matters, on a durable base for better value. |
